SSC CHSL (10+2) Exam Syllabus

SSC CHSL (10+2) Exam syllabus details: Following are the topics that will be included in SSC CHSL exam:

General intelligence: Questions of both non-verbal and verbal type are included in this section. The test will have questions on symbolic operations, semantic analogy, figural analogy, number/symbolic analogy, semantic classification, trends, semantic orientation, number/symbolic classification, Venn diagrams, figural classification, drawing inferences, semantic series, pattern folding/punched hole, number series, figural series, embedded figures, problem solving, critical thinking, word building, emotional intelligence, coding and de coding, social intelligence and other sub topics.

English language: Fill in the blanks, synonyms/antonyms/homonyms, spot the error, mis spelt words, one word substitution, spellings detecting, phrases and idioms, active/passive voice, sentences improvement, direct/indirect narration conversion, sentence shuffling in passage, sentence parts shuffling, comprehension passage, cloze passage.

Quantitative aptitude:


Algebra: Linear equations graph, basic identities (algebraic) of elementary surds and school algebra (simple questions)

Number systems: Fractions and decimals, whole number computation, relationship between numbers

Geometry: knowledge of fundamental geometric facts and figures: types of triangles and its centers, circle and chords of circle and angles subtended by them, similarity and congruence of triangles, tangents, two or more circles and common tangents.

Basic arithmetic operations: Proportion and ratio, percentages, averages, square roots, profit and loss, business and partnership, interest (compound and simple), discount, time and distance, allegation and mixtures, time and work.

Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, trigonometry, distances and heights, complementary angles, standard trigonometric identities etc.

Mensuration: Quadrilaterals, circle, triangle, right prism, regular polygons, right circular cylinder, right circular cone, hemispheres, regular right pyramid with square or triangular base, spheres, rectangular parallelepiped.

Statistical charts: Use of histogram, bar diagram, graphs and tables, frequency polygon, pie chart

General awareness: In this paper, questions are concerned to test the general awareness of the candidate of his/her surrounding environment and its solicitation to society.In this section, the knowledge of candidate regarding current matters and his/her regular observation in scientific aspects is also tested and questions are alsodesigned accordingly.In this section, questions related to India and its adjacent countries are asked particularly concerning to culture, history, economic scene, geography, scientific research and general policy.

Important note: in the section of quantitative/reasoning aptitude and general intelligence, no components will be there of graphs/maps/statistical data/diagrams for the visually handicapped candidates having visual disability of 40% or above and who elect for scribes.
